This capital city enchants its visitors with charm and charisma of old and new surroundings. With a series of things to do like city tour which would take you around Old Quarter and Sword Lake, visit Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum and museum, Street Food Tour, eat original Pho Noodle, or the famous Vietnamese Coffee and lots more. If you can drive don't miss the chance to rent and ride a scooter in the streets of Vietnam it's another little experience. One thing that is a must for the winter season is visiting the Hoan Kiem Lake. It's a completely different experience from the chaotic and buzzing street around it, but peaceful winter mornings are a bliss. On new year locals gather to view fireworks and exchange wishes.

Fansipan Mountain is a must-see if you are in Sapa. The summit is 3,143 metres above sea level which makes it the highest mountain in Indochina. Go for trekking there which usually takes 3-4 days but the experience is breathtaking. If you are not so much of an adventurer a

cable car system runs to it in 15-20 minutes. Both ways hold some great picturesque views and an incredible experience. You may also get to experience snow there.

Some of the aditional perks of visiting Vietnam during the winter season are:

  • Christmas in the streets of Hanoi, though not much population, is Christian but there is a lot of buzz and celebration around that time with decorated streets

  • On New Year’s experience fireworks around lake and exchange wishes.

  • Hoi An Lantern Festival is celebrated on the 14th day of each month. It takes place in the former port city of Hoi An with the majority of celebrations centred in the Ancient Area. The place is lit with beautifully crafted lanterns.

  • The Perfume Pagoda locally known as Chua Huong draws a lot of local Pilgrims and tourists to attend the festival. Travellers journey by boat to Huong Mountain, then disembark and continue by foot to Huong Tich cave visiting different shrines in different temples.
