Some special festivals in Vietnam

Nowadays, Vietnam is a beautiful destination for tourists around the world. People really like the beauty and customs of Vietnam. There are some special festivals in Vietnam that you should know and save it for your trip to Tet Vietnam.

1. Tet Nguyen Dan (Lunar New Year)

This is the biggest festival in Vietnam. This is the festival when all members of a family will come back to their hometown for a family reunion. Visiting Vietnam on these days, you will not see the wild party but it is still a fascinating time to visit and enjoy the local lighting fireworks, visiting the temples and admire the color flowers on the streets during Tet in Vietnam.

2. Mid-Autumn Festival

Held on the 14th and 15th in the eighth of the lunar month. This festival is for children and there are some activities holding such as carrying paper lanterns and lion dances. There are also some types of food for this day including mooncakes, sticky rice, fruits, and several sweets. Nowadays, this festival is not only for children but also for most adults.

3. Hue Festival

This festival is a biannual celebration that takes place in Hue City. Joining this festival, you can enjoy cultural events and games. Starting in 2000, it is held to preserve the traditional customs of the Nguyen Dynasty. The best time for visiting Hue is from April to June when taking place the unique showcases such as The Hue Poetry Festival, Ao Dai Fashion shows, the dialogue of Drums and some activities such as kite flying, human chess, and boat racing,...

4. Perfume Festival

Taking place from the 1st lunar month to the 3rd lunar month every year. Perfume Festival attracts the pilgrims from other places in Vietnam to Hanoi. Pilgrims will travel by boat along the Yen River to the base of Huong Mountain. They can admire the beauty of the river, rice fields, and limestone mountain caves. Then they have to climb hundreds of stone steps to Huong Tich Cave. It is quite high so you should wear suitable shoes to avoid feet pains.

5. Lim Festival

This festival is held on the 12th and the 13th of the first lunar month. Coming this festival, you can enjoy Quan Ho Folk Singing Performance and participate in some traditional games such as Danh Du (bamboo swings), human chess, wrestling, cockfighting, blind man's bluff, and tug-of-war.

6. Hoi An Lantern Festival

Holding on the 14th every lunar month. om these days, every restaurant, shop, bar, business in the Ancient town will switch off all electricity and rely on hundreds of candles and lanterns. Especially, all the temples are free of charge and you will see several monks and locals holding the ceremonies.

7. Hung King Temple Festival

Holding on the 10th day of the 3rd lunar month. This is the commemoration of Kinh Duong Vuong who was the first king of Vietnam. On the eve of the festival, there are 100 lanterns released into the sky. It attracts so many people in Vietnam come here to memorize Hung King.
