Vietnam’s public holidays are administered by the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs of Vietnam. Workers in Vietnam have totally 10 paid holidays every year. When a public holiday falls on a weekend – either Saturday or Sunday – the following Monday will be considered a paid holiday.
Foreign workers in Vietnam have an additional day off for their country’s National Day.
Below is the list of all public holidays in Vietnam.
Official public holiday schedule for 2019
• New Year’s Day: January 1 (Tuesday)
• Tet Holiday: February 2 (Saturday) – February 10 (Sunday)
February 4 (Monday) is Tet Eve (Vietnamese New Year’s Eve)
February 5 (Tuesday) is Tet Nguyen Dan (Vietnamese New Year)
It is considered as the most important celebration in Vietnam. Many stores, banks, and restaurants close for the first few days (usually one or two days) but accommodation and some shopping malls remain open. Tourists are suggested to book train and bus tickets at least one month in advance if they want to travel within the country these days.
• Gio to Hung Vuong Holiday: April 13 (Saturday) – April 15 (Monday)
April 14: (Sunday) Hung Kings Commemoration Day
April 15: (Monday) Hung Kings Commemoration Holiday
Hung Kings are the traditional founders of the nation, the holiday falls on the 10th day of the third lunar month
• Liberation/Reunification Day Holiday: April 27 (Saturday) – April 30 (Tuesday)
May 4 is the official working day
• International Labor Day: May 1 (Wednesday)
• National Day: August 31 (Saturday) – September 2 (Monday)
September 2: Independence Day
How to get Viet Nam E- Visa

However, if you enter Vietnam by the airport, Vietnam Visa on arrival will be better because you will have visa ticker on your passport. Meanwhile, with E-visa, you will get a visa code only, without a visa sticker on the passport.
