1. Hue Imperial City
This place is also called "The Citadel". It is surrounded by an impressive moat. Most of the structure is damaged in the battle but they are still restored. Therefore, you will see some different buildings inside the citadel due to restored and damaged stages.
There is only one gate to enter the Imperial City so please make sure that taxi drivers will drop you off at the correct way.
2. Hue Provincial Museum
This place is quite near the imperial city and it is too old so everything needs to be maintained. The grass hasn't cut for so long and there are many holes in the walkways. This place is considered as the significance of the battle.
If you are interested in the history and battle, this museum is the best destination for a quick visit. The entrance fee is only 1 USD. Come here, you will directly see several tanks, planes, helicopters from Vietnam War. There is both Vietnamese and English explanation here.
3. The Perfume River
From the center of the city, visitors can go along the Perfume River. Most of the tourists choose the boat tour to enjoy the river view. Have a meal and visit several major tourist sites in the area by boat.
Another way to admire the beauty of the Perfume River is to stroll along the walkway in the bank of the river. In the morning, this is a way for jogging but in the night, there are some little shops and restaurants opened and some lanterns are lit. It will become animate and shimmered.
4. Thien Mu Pagoda
Situated on Ha Khe Hill, Thien Mu is the tallest building in Vietnam. This pagoda is not only beautiful but it is also a political significance. During the “Buddhist Crisis” of 1963, the Catholic government cracked down on Buddhism in the country, despite the majority of Vietnamese being Buddhist at the time. Thien Mu Pagoda became a place for this movement when nine unarmed Buddhists were shot in Hue. And nowadays, it becomes the best destination for visitors.
5. Khai Dinh Tomb
Completed in 1931 after 11 years for constructing. Khai Dinh Tomb is the last of imperial tombs in Vietnam and the most popular tomb in this area.
6. Minh Mang Tomb
Only 3 years to complete, Minh Mang Tomb is another popular tomb in Hue. Come here, you will be admired for the beauty of architecture and landscape here.
Visitors can freely explore most of the sites when coming here, but the gate to the tomb is only opened once a year on the anniversary of Emperor Minh Mang’s death.
