Unlike the Vietnam Electronic Visa which allows citizens of only 81 countries to visit Vietnam, the visa on arrival (VOA) allows the grant of almost all countries around the world with effect from 01 Jan 2020

Applicants can apply for the VOA, for different duration period from 1 month to 1 year as well as both for single and multiple entries to serve a job or business purpose.

The most popular type of Visa On Arrival is one-month single entry visa. If you wish for multiple entries and a longer stay, there are other options for you to choose from such as one-month multiple entry visa, three-month single entry visa or three-month multiple entry visa. Furthermore, you can also apply for a visa extension in case of any change during your time in Vietnam.

Types of Visas

Vietnam VOA 2020 is of different types that offer different privileges to their fellow applicants. A few of them can be considered as follows:

  • 1 month single entry: This visa is applicable both for tourist and business purpose and takes 1-2 and 2-3 working days to get processed. It allows the applicant to stay in Vietnam for not more than 30 days in a single visit.

  • 1 month multiple entries: It’s applicable both for tourists as well as business seekers and takes 1-2 and 2-3 working days to get processed. Allows the candidate to visit Vietnam multiple times within 30 days.

  • 3 month single entry: Applicable for travelers as well as business seekers and takes 1-2 and 3-4 days for getting processed and allows the applicant to stay in the country for 85-87 days.

  • 3 month multiple entries: Applicable both for job and business purpose and takes 1-2 and 3-4 days respectively for its processing. Allows the applicant to visit Vietnam multiple times for 85-87 days.

  • 6 months multiple entries: Applicable for US citizens only and the processing time takes maximum 3-4 days. In case of a tourist visa, the applicant has to leave Vietnam every 3 months whereas in the case of business visa the applicant can stay for 5 months 25 days or the whole of 6 months and can visit Vietnam multiple times.

  • 1 year multiple entries: Applicable for US citizens only and the processing time takes maximum 3-4 days. In case of a tourist visa, the applicant has to leave Vietnam every 3 months whereas with business visa the applicant can stay for 11 months 25 days or 1 year itself and can visit Vietnam multiple times.

How to apply for Vietnam Visa Extension

The following documents must be provided to apply for Vietnam Visa extension:

- Your original valid passport

- Stay certification issued by local public security

- Completed form N5 certified by a Vietnamese guarantor.

The visa extension often takes 5 days to be completed, excluding weekends and holidays.

VOA Stamping Fees

A few of the essential fees required for Vietnam VOA 2020 are as follows:

Service fees: This will be required beforehand prior to commencing the application process for getting the visa approval letter (please see our update fee on the website).

Stamping fees: This fee will be required while collecting the visa sticker on to your passport. Its different types are:

  • 1 month single entry: 25 USD

  • 3 months single entry: 25 USD

  • 1 month multiple entries: 50 USD

  • 1 year multiple entries: 135 USD

  • Less than 3 months multiple entries: 50 USD

  • Less than 6 months multiple entries: 95 USD

Cases to be granted Vietnam VOA

VOA might be granted to foreigners falling into the following categories:

- Those from countries without Vietnam visa issuing authorities

- Those to visit Vietnam within a travel program held by an international travel operator in Vietnam

- Those to attend a relative’s funeral or visiting a seriously sick relative.

- Those to enter Vietnam for dealing with incidents, rescue, natural disaster prevention, etc., as requested by Vietnamese competent authorities

- Foreign crews who are landing at Vietnamese ports and want to exit through other border gates.

To be granted Vietnam VOA, you must present your passport and complete the application for visa with a photo at the immigration control agency. Children under 14 can share the application for visa with their parents or guardians if they are co-holders of the passports.

All applications for Vietnam VOA from individuals and entities must be addressed to the Vietnam Immigration Department – Ministry of Public Security prior to the relevant foreigners’ entry into Vietnam.
