How to get Vietnam E-visa for US Citizens

What is Vietnam E-visa?

Vietnam E-visa is a type of visa issued by Vietnam Immigration Department to foreigners through the electronic transaction system. This type of visa is only for the tourist visa for one-month single entry, not for business purpose.

Foreigners who would like to enter Vietnam can make a request for issuance of an electronic visa or through an invitation or guarantee Agencies.
E-visa fee is paid for Vietnam Immigration Department by electronic payment gate. Electronic visa fee and electronic payment fee are not refundable in the case that the applicant is not granted a visa.

Requirements for obtaining E-visa for US citizens

Living abroad
Having the passport with minimum 6 months validity
Not belonging to Article 21 of the Law on entry, exit, transit or residence of Foreigners in Vietnam.

The procedure for applying E-visa as below:

Step 1: Complete the electronic visa application information: upload passport-sized photo and portrait (portrait face, no glasses). As soon as finishing this step, the applicant will be granted the electronic file code system;
Step 2: Make the payment for the fee ($25);
Step 3: Please use the electronic file code to check results, if approved, print that e-visa to enter/exit Vietnam.

Important note:

Your application will be refused if your document is missing or contains incorrect information.
This type of visa is only applicable to tourism, one month, single entry. If you wish to arrive in Vietnam for other purposes, please select Vietnam visa on arrival or embassy visa.
