According to the Vietnam Immigration law, foreigners who would like to work in Vietnam for a long time, need to apply for a
work permit or a certificate of work permit exemption.
In order to deeply unđerstand about work permit, you should carefully read several details as below:
1. Who are in work permit exemption program?
Foreigners who are experts, managers, technicians or chief executive officers, working in Vietnam for a period under 30 days or accumulated working period under 90 days per year. Can work in Vietnam without a
work permit.

2. Who needs a work permit for working in Vietnam?
Foreigners, who are working in Vietnam with the following forms:
- Working under labor contracts
- Experts, managers, executive directors, and technical workers
- Foreigners are responsible for establishing the commercial presence
- Being transfer within an enterprise
- Performance of any of types of contract such as economic, cultural, sports, scientific and technical, financial, commercial, banking, insurance, educational, vocational training or medical health contracts
- Other forms stipulated by the Vietnam Government
3. Who needs a certificate of work permit exemption
Foreign people who are:
- Owners of limited liability companies or Capital-contributing members
- Members of the board of director of Joint Stock Companies
- Heads of representative office and projects of international organizations or non-governmental organizations in Vietnam
- Internal movement in enterprises operating in 11 service sectors specified in Vietnam’s commitments schedule to the WTO
- Other forms stipulated by the Vietnam Government
